The Barrington Group was formed nearly 40 years ago when the apartment industry was just beginning “professional property management”.
We were there from the start as traditional bare box type apartments developed into “lifestyle” apartment living.
Our company philosophy of providing excellent quality maintenance service, good clean, well-manicured grounds, well-prepared apartments, friendly courteous professional staff members, and a genuine real concern for the health, safety, and well being of our residents was formed in those early days and is still going strong today.
The Barrington Group believes in long-term ownership, we do not “build and sell” or “flip” our properties; in fact, we still own and manage most of our original portfolio.
We know our residents, they know us…. we strive to have the same staff at a property year after year. Our residents are not subject to “new management” with changing rules and less quality standards. Because we are long-term owners, we must pay attention to keeping our properties in excellent physical condition…. to prevent them from aging… we spend considerable resources on keeping our properties beautiful.
Now 40 years later, The Barrington Group has 20 properties dispersed among Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Georgia, and Florida.
The Barrington Group has a 40+ year history of excelling with multi-family properties.
BGI began with acquiring and managing its own portfolio of properties, demonstrating its expertise such that distressed owners and lenders sought them out to stabilize third party troubled properties.
BGI then moved on to larger troubled properties where construction supervision and completion was the key to success. As its portfolio aged and new apartment construction overbuilding took place in the 1980’s, BGI reinvested in its own properties through extensive capital improvement and upgrading programs, then, in the 1990’s, undertook multiple “gut and rehab” redevelopment opportunities where existing vacant, boarded-up properties were acquired, stripped to the walls and/or foundations, rebuilt and repositioned as stable and competitive operating assets.
Today, through development entities, BGI’s principals are taking their accumulated experience in management, positioning and leasing up new and redeveloped product, and construction supervision and applying it to guiding the development of new multi-family properties with qualified, expert construction professionals and builders.

Graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.S. in City and Land Planning, Ohio State University GRI, Licensed real estate broker State of Ohio. Former President Ohio Apartment Assoc. (1976).
Graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.B.A. in Accounting, CPA. Scott has been with BGI since 1987 with responsibility for all real estate finance (acquisition, construction, permanent), financial reporting and compliance, information systems, treasury management, and investor relations.
Graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.S. in Business Administration. Ronda has been with BGI since 1987 with responsibility for the management, leasing, marketing, and risk management of the entire portfolio.
